Youth are the future of this world. Hence in order to build a sound, efficient and meaningful future the foundation got to be laid strongly. In other words the youth have to be guided and empowered with the correct knowledge and attitude. With this in mind, Sinthanai Foundation has embarked on a project to empower the youth of the upcountry region of Sri Lanka who hail from a very disadvantaged background.

Considering the fact that the tea plantation sector is considered to be one of the most impoverished communities in the country. They always lack far behind in many aspects of life when compared to the communities which hail from the cities and towns. Due to this unfortunate situation, the youth of this community take the wrong turn in their life at the crucial stage of turning into adulthood. Therefore, we focus on them and guide them on the correct path by providing them the necessary knowledge and which currently they are deprived of.

We have established a free education centre in the town of Kotagala in the midst of tea plantation and provide free education and training to the school leavers. We enroll the school leavers once they complete their secondary education and provide them training in English & Sinhala languages, Computer skills, and critical thinking to facilitate them to enter their next phase of life. They may choose to continue their higher education or to enter the workforce of Sri Lanka. Whichever the path they may choose, we equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to be competitive and successful in the modern world.
